My favourite tennis team

My favourite tennis team

My very first post and I think this first post deserves to be very special and meaningful to me. Therefore i chose to post a picture of my tennis team class of 2013. This picture contains a lot of special memories, memories that i will keep with me forever. This picture was taken before the start of Nats( Inter-school Tennis Championship) and we were all looking forward to make some sort of history that we can take from this competition, be it winning the god medal or going undefeated for all matches. This team have a special place in my heart as it was the only team that i played for which showed the true spirit of togetherness and fighting spirit. I have played tennis for about 9 years, thus i have been part of many teams, but none are like this team that i played for in ACJC. There are many familiar faces in the team as i used to play with some of the senior players in my secondary school, thus not all of them are strangers to me. I was very delighted to be in this team because i had my good friend and doubles partner, Jerry in the team as well. He was the one who always got my back in matches and also in life. I have played tennis with him for 4 years thus having him around was great. This team taught me a lot an has helped me become the player and person i am today. The girls team was a very important part of the school team as they were the ones who encouraged me to push harder and not give up. Hearing them cheer for me during physical training made me push myself to go the extra distance. There is also one special person in the tennis team and his name is Matthew. He was my doubles partner for this tournament and we have been training day in and day out, practising our groundstrokes as well as volleys. He was my right hand man, the guy that i can always count on during crucial matches and points. Being in a doubles partnership with him was very unique, having played doubles for 4 years, i have had my fair share of experience as well as playing with different people. I would say that he is the most unique partner i ever had and our partnership was very special as it brought out a certain chemistry that other pairing lacked. We then conquered the doubles stage in the tournament, putting our name out there. The top schools were very afraid to play us as we were on a roll at that moment. Playing tennis with him brought me much joy as well as satisfaction as i always played my best tennis with him. Unfortunately our team only managed to clinch a 4th placing medal despite all our efforts. The girls were narrowly defeated in the finals, but this only brought the whole team together as we play as one, we lose as one and cry as one. The defeat taught us many lessons but none more important than the lesson of friendship. Being part of this team was something i will never regret, even though its my only tournament with them, it was so much fun and was an honour to play beside these great players and hope they manage to play harder next time for the Best Is Yet To Be.
